BSA -Technical Analyst

Technical Analyst
Seeking a technical business analyst to participate in a complex technology assessment and improvement project for a premier financial services firm based in Boston. The qualified candidate must have a broad IT infrastructure background and be able to collect, classify, interpret and assemble relevant technical data and requirements from a variety of sources including corporate repositories (CMBD, asset databases, etc.) and stakeholder interviews.
The technical analyst will work as part of a team charged with:
-developing a current state technology model-gathering requirements and developing a target state model
-creating a gap analysis between the current and the target state-assemble and gain consensus on a remediation roadmap that will address the identified gaps
Gathering information from existing sources to assemble application profiles containing:
  • application criticality
  • application topology and architecture
  • application hardware mapping
  • application data/database requirements
  • network dependencies
  • middleware services (message infrastructure) dependencies
  • authentication and entitlement
  • DR failover and recovery processes
  • Application access control
  • Upstream and downstream application/service e dependencies
  • Dataflows / processing
  • Batch processing-assemble information into a predefined current state model and a desired future state model-identify missing and inconsistent information
  • close information gaps by conducting stakeholder interviews and documenting interview topics (minutes)
  • Analyse and process information gathered and participate in the development of a comprehensive gap report-Participate in the development and consensus gathering for a remediation roadmap closing the identified gaps 
Qualifications Required
The candidate needs to have the following qualifications:
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to work independently based on provided guidance and agreed upon processes
- Conduct interviews with technology stakeholders at different levels of seniority
- Take minutes of interviews

Candidate will be sufficiently versed in the following technologies to be able to interpret and analyse information gathered:
  • Wintel systems(MS Windows)
  • Linux systems(Redhat Linux)
  • Unix (Solaris)
  • Virtualization infrastructure(VMWare ESXi / Simplivity)
  • Network infrastructure
  • Storage infrastructure(SAN/NAS, Veritas VVR, VCS, TSM Backup etc)
  • Middleware technologies(MQ, Secure FTP etc)
  • HCI/UCI architectures (Simplivity, Nutanix / vBlock / UCS)
  • Process documentation
  • BCP/DR documentation, processes and procedures
  • Disaster recovery frameworks
